Culinary Hotel Awards: This Is What 75% of the Winners Have in Common
On Monday evening, the Culinary Hotel Awards (CHA) were held in Norway for the very first time. Among the twelve award winners, one thing stands out: nine of them use Millum as their digital procurement system.
The Culinary Hotel Awards took place at Sommerro in Oslo on Monday, October 27, bringing together the industry’s leading players in food, drink, and hotel experiences. The jury evaluated hotels across the country in twelve different categories – from breakfast and bar to interior design and sustainability.
Behind one common denominator lies a Norwegian tech success: nine of the winners use Millum as their procurement tool – including Hotel Norge, Hotel Victoria, Britannia, and Sommerro.
“We are extremely proud that so many of this year’s winners use Millum. It shows that professional and sustainable procurement plays a key role in elevating the entire hotel experience,” says Tiril Zelow Bliksmark, Marketing Director at Millum.
Sponsor of the Most Prestigious Award
Millum is also the main sponsor of what is referred to as the evening’s most prestigious award – the Food & Beverage Award – which this year went to Hotel Norge by Scandic in Bergen.
The jury awarded the prize “For their ability to create gastronomic experiences from early morning to late evening. And for succeeding in what all hotels strive for: making guests feel both at home – and like pampered, invited guests.”
Zane Tomase, F&B Manager at Hotel Norge, said before the ceremony that Millum is a central part of operations: “It would be much harder without Millum. It makes our everyday work efficient, logical, and systematic. I’ve used the system for 7–8 years and can’t imagine a workday without it,” she says.
Provides Control and a Better Bottom Line
Other award winners also highlight Millum as crucial for efficient operations and lower costs. Karoline Sperstad, Head Chef at Scandic Hotel Nidelven, which won the Green Award, puts it this way: “You save a lot of time and money with Millum. It has changed the way we work. Everything is gathered in one place, and it gives full oversight of everything from orders and packing slips to stocktaking.”
Tobias Persson, Executive Chef at Hotel Sommerro in Oslo, winner of the Hotellenes Hotel and Bar Award, states: “Millum has changed the way we work. We get full insight into order history, and the system makes everyday life much easier. We’ve used Millum for three years since opening, and it gives us full control, every single day.”
Norwegian Technology Behind World-Class Culinary Experiences
Millum was founded in 2002 by three entrepreneurs from Asker, Bærum, and Oslo. The company was the first in the Nordics to digitize the entire procurement process for hotels, restaurants, and staff restaurants. The system gathers agreements, prices, suppliers, and menu planning on one platform – and today holds over 70% market share in Norway.
“It’s especially meaningful to be a partner of this award ceremony when we see how our users deliver world-class food and beverage experiences. This is a recognition of the entire team – chefs, purchasers, and managers alike,” says Zelow Bliksmark.
