We want our procurement portal to enable our customers to reduce their food waste and transport impact. Our solutions provide greater control over procurements and makes the planning process easier, which results in more sustainable trade within the restaurant and food industry. We know that our solutions help purchasers make decisions that benefit both the business and the environment by eliminating incorrect orders and surplus transport.

We are constantly working to deliver the tools that industry stakeholders need to be able to make better decisions. One way in which we can help is by demonstrating that sustainability and reduced food waste can also provide financial returns; something that is often the key to new ventures.

Cooperation with Verdimat to tackle food waste

Millum was involved in the creation of Verdimat, which is a wholesaler that distributes surplus foodstuffs from well-known suppliers to the grocery trade and the food service industry. We supply the technology that processes the orders between Verdimat and its customers.

We are proud to be working with Verdimat to reduce food waste in the industry. This is just one of many steps we have taken to meet the industry’s demand for sustainability.

Follows the food from field to fork

In 2017 Millum entered into a partnership with Factlines. We hope that this partnership will help make it easier for all stakeholders in the value chain to further document the journey of food from field to fork.  It provides them with a unique opportunity to demonstrate to business partners their ethical and corporate social responsibility in action.

Every little helps when it comes to sustainability

The commitment shown by Millum and Matinfo to achieve sustainability and reduce food waste has grown in recent years as the issue has gained prominence within the industry. During our meetings with the food waste advisory service Matvett, we tried to identify areas where we can make a difference in connection with the initiative ‘Kutt Matsvinn 2020’ (Cut Food Waste 2020).

In addition to focusing on existing customers, Millum and Matinfo, guided by Matvett, have helped a group of students with their degree project on food waste in the food service industry. It is both exciting and beneficial for us, as a knowledge-based company, to develop ties with a university.

What can Millum and Matinfo bring to the table?

Our aim is to be one of the catalysts for an industry that is starting to focus more on sustainability and a reduction in food waste. The clever solutions we develop create the right conditions for change in the industry, because they enable our customers to realise their ambitions. Only when we have succeeded in this can that change become a reality and produce the sustainability effects for which the entire industry is fighting.
