Millum takes social responsibility

The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are the world’s joint roadmap for eradicating poverty, combating inequality and stopping climate change. The aim is to do this by 2030. The goals put environmental, economic and social development into a cohesive context.
 

Millum is working to develop digital solutions that help our customers to engage in sustainable trade using our portals.
 

This is important as our solutions are used for trading worth in excess of NOK 8 billion. Millum can help to make a positive difference and create long-term values for people and the environment – in our own business and via the companies we work with.


We have gathered our main activities around two of the UN’s SDGs. You can read more about these and the accompanying targets below:

We aim to develop solutions and services that simplify our customers’ work with the sustainability goals they themselves have chosen. We will achieve this through collaboration and partnership.

The HORECA sector’s sustainability goals – set into systems

Millum shall be proactive, knowledgeable and reliable in developing new products and services. Our market position enables us, for example, to simplify the measurement and monitoring of sustainability actions for a large number of organisations. Based on this, we aim to have a significant influence on sustainability work in our industry.

Partnership for innovation

Millum connects the purchaser side and supplier side in the HORECA sector, acting as a link between the two. Through our network and our platform, we can mobilise many players towards a common goal. Moreover, we collaborate with various parties who work on specific problems the industry wants to solve, from founders to major networks and centres of excellence. We are members of the UN Global Compact.

E-commerce itself provides good control and management of purchases, and is an important tool in assuring sustainable choices. We also work with a raft of other initiatives aiming to help the industry become more sustainable:

Responsible purchasing

We work with Factlines, enabling you to better check that your business has control of environmental issues, social and ethical aspects in your supply chain – down to every single party.

Planning and control reduce food waste

Food waste is perhaps the industry’s greatest challenge, with discarded food representing not only unnecessary climate emissions, but also lost earnings. We work with TotalCtrl and Matvett to help the industry reduce food waste. We have also been involved in establishing, and now deliver technology for, Verdimat, a wholesale company that distributes surplus goods from the grocery and food service sectors.

Technology company Millum and its subsidiary Matinfo are working to develop digital solutions that help customers to trade sustainably.

Corporate social responsibility from field to fork

Matinfo and Factlines have entered into a cooperation agreement in order to improve how the journey of food from field to fork is documented. This agreement provides suppliers registered with Matinfo with a unique opportunity to document and demonstrate their corporate responsibility (CR) to purchasers.
