Social responsibility from farm to fork

Matinfo AS and Factlines have entered into a cooperation agreement in order to improve how the journey of food from field to fork is documented. This agreement provides suppliers registered with Matinfo with a unique opportunity to document and demonstrate their corporate social responsibility (CSR) to purchasers.

This makes it easy for purchasers to make conscious choices when procuring goods for the food service sector.

The agreement gives Matinfo access to recognised expertise in the form of one of the major players in ethical trade and CSR.

This is a very exciting and important development for Matinfo. We want to be the party that enables purchasers to make conscious and sound choices. This partnership allows us to give our customers what they want – information about the journey of food from field to fork.

Makes compliance easier

Matinfo and Factlines are both looking to give suppliers the ability to document and demonstrate their work on ethical and environmental responsibility to purchasers, which in turn empowers them to make conscious choices. This has until now been difficult and time-consuming for suppliers to do.

With our solution suppliers are able to publish their results in the portal for all purchasers to see. This allows purchasers to make conscious choices without it complicating their work. If you take your CSR seriously, you need to ensure that information is shared correctly with your suppliers. We help you to do this effectively and efficiently. If you want to comply with Section 5 of the new Norwegian Public Procurement Act and the corresponding EU directives, you have to be able to document systems and procedures for upholding human rights.

Important for key players in the Horeca industry

The fact that the industry is keen to assume its responsibilities in this area and comply with legislation is clear from the actions of the industry’s biggest players. Even before the partnership was announced, a number of companies registered their interest in the project. One of the biggest players in the Horeca (hotel, restaurant and catering) industry, Compass Group Norge, is keen to meet its CSR commitments at all its canteens in Norway.

Here at Compass ethical trade and CSR are very important concepts. That is why we aim to be one of the first companies to really get to grips with this. We have already implemented certain measures and our collaboration with Matinfo underlines that we are a leading figure that is committed to this cause.

Karl Olav Bø

Product Development Manager at Compass Group Norge

Norrek has the same attitude, being another company that demonstrated its CSR work to purchasers through Matinfo early on.

Like many of our customers, we take engaging in ethical trade seriously. We want to publicise this  work and endeavour to ensure that our entire supply chain complies with these requirements.

Sales Manager at Norrek
